Nashville Predators Second Wave of Roster Cuts

The Nashville Predators on Sunday played their first preseason game of the season which was a split-squad matchup against the Florida Panthers they would go on to lose both games, in the first one they lost 3-2 and in the second game, they lost 6-2. On Monday they made their first wave of roster cuts as they assigned Kalan Lind to the Red Deer of the WHL, Jakub Milota to Cape Breton of the QMJHL, Miguel Marques to Lethbridge of the WHL, Joey Willis to Saginaw of the OHL, and Dylan MacKinnon to Moncton of the QMJHL. Today they made their second set of cuts ahead of a back-to-back matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday and then on Saturday as they sent forward Hiroki Gojsic to Kelowna of the WHL, and defenseman Andrew Gibson to Soo Greyhounds of the OHL, the roster is now down to 56 and they need to get it down to 23 before Opening Night on October 10th against the Dallas Stars. Gojsic on Sunday played in the first game recording 12:10 of ice time and finished with a shot on goal, two hits, and was a minus one. Gibson played in the same game recording 19:32 of ice time, finishing with a block, and two hits, and was also a minus-one.

F – Hiroki Gojsic

Gojsic was drafted with the 94th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. The 18-year-old, 6’3” 198 lb. forward last season played with Kelowna of the WHL where he was returned to, in 68 games he had 50 points on 21 goals and 29 assists; he was a plus five and had 51 penalty minutes. In the playoffs for Kelowna in 11 games he had five points all coming on assists; he was a minus-one and had 13 penalty minutes.

D – Andrew Gibson

Gibson was drafted 42nd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings and was traded to Nashville for a second-round pick and forward Jesse Kiiskinen. The 19-year-old 6’3” 203 lb. defenseman played last season with Soo Greyhounds of the OHL, in 68 games he had 44 points on 12 goals and 32 assists; he was a +36 and had 58 penalty minutes. In the 11 games in the playoffs, he had two points both coming on assists; he was a plus-five and had two penalty minutes.
