The New Jersey Devils return tomorrow night against the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal. They last played on Wednesday in a 5-1 over the Boston Bruins. However, despite the win, the Devils suffered a loss as goaltender Jacob Markstrom left the game in the second period. Markstrom suffered a lower-body injury after a collision with Bruins forward Justin Brazeau. He left after stopping six of the seven shots he faced. Today following imaging it was confirmed he suffered an MCL sprain and will be out for four to six weeks now. He will also miss the Four Nations tournament. He is beginning a rehab program under the Devils’ athlete care staff. Markstrom is in his first season with the Devils. He is 21-9-5 in 36 starts with a .912 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average. It’s a tough break for a Devils team who are in third place in the Metropolitan Division holding that spot by seven points. They will turn to Jake Allen and likely Nico Daws as the two goalies moving forward.
