New Jersey Devils Goaltender To Miss Stadium Series

The New Jersey Devils have announced that goaltender Vitek Vanecek will not be available for the Devils Stadium Series game this Saturday vs. the Philadelphia Flyers as he is suffering from a lower-body injury. Vanecek is having a rough year with New Jersey as he’s gone 17-9-3 with a 3.18 GAA and .890SV%. The former second-round pick of the Washington Capitals is in his second year with the Devils after leading them to the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season.

New Jersey will likely ride Nico Daws, who has won his last three stats. On the season, Daws is 5-5 with a 3.02 GAA and .906 SV%. He played in three games with Utica (AHL), where he went 1-2 with a 2.39 GAA and .929 SV%. He didn’t make his first appearance until December, as he was out with a knee injury. Akira Schmid will serve as Daws backup for the time being
