New Jersey Devils Place Timo Meier on IR

The New Jersey Devils have announced that they have placed Timo Meier with what Head Coach Lindy Ruff is calling a “Medium Body” injury; however, he is eligible to be activated at any time as the IR move is retroactive to December 30th. New Jersey also announced that Jack Hughes will be out of the lineup as well tonight, but there is no timetable for his return. Meier will be missing his third straight game tonight as the Devils host the Vancouver Canucks. This is a new injury for Meier and unrelated to his injury earlier this season. In 28 games this season, the 27-year-old winger has put up nine goals and six assists for 15 points. His numbers are very similar to last year with the Devils, as he had nine goals and five assists for 14 points after being traded to the Devils from the San Jose Sharks.

With Meier hitting the IR, the Devils have re-called Max Willman from the Utica Comets. Willman has spent four games with the Devils this season and found the back of the net in his first career game on November 15th in Chicago for his only point of the season. In 20 games with the Comets this season, Willman has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points. He will not play tonight vs Vancouver; however, Graeme Clark will make his NHL debut tonight.
