New York Islanders All-Star Game Representative

Tonight, the NHL announced the 32 players headed to the NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto next month. Thirty-two players, one per team, were awarded the honor. Twelve more will be voted in by the fans over the next few weeks. There will then be a draft to designate rosters for the weekend.

This year’s Islanders nominee is Mathew Barzal. The 26-year-old superstar winger has had the best season of his career thus far, thoroughly deserving his nomination to his 3rd All-Star game.

Barzal has recorded ten goals and 27 assists in 36 games this season. That point-per-game pace has the Isles star at the top of the right wing scoring in the Metropolitan Division. His play has gone to another level with the help of his partner, Bo Horvat. The Islanders power play, sitting at 10th in the league, has also certainly helped boost Barzal’s production on pace for the best season of his career. Noah Dobson and Bo Horvat were also strong candidates to be nominated and can now be voted into the game.

The All-Star Weekend takes place February 2-3 in Toronto.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
