
The New York Rangers kicked off free agency, signing defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to a seven-year deal with a $7 million AAV. Shortly after the deal became official, reports indicated that the Rangers are trading defenseman K’Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are trading a first round and second round draft pick as well as defenseman Scott Morrow to the Rangers. The extension will be eight-years for $60 million. Gavrikov, this season in 82 games, had 30 points on five goals and 25 assists. He posted a +26 rating, blocked 140 shots, and delivered 50 hits. He’s a nice piece for the Rangers’ blue line. Miller, in 74 games this season, had 27 points on seven goals and 20 assists. He was even in plus/minus with two power-play points, 110 blocked shots, and 107 hits.

Vladislav Gavrikov
The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Gavrikov with the 159th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. “Over six NHL seasons with three different teams, he has played in 435 games and recorded 135 points on 29 goals and 106 assists. He holds a +24 rating, along with 676 blocked shots and 451 hits.

K’Andre Miller
The Rangers drafted Miller 22nd overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. In 368 games all with New York, he has 132 points on 36 goals and 96 assists. He is a +49 with 504 blocked shots and 661 hits. Miller finished 12th in Calder Memorial Trophy voting in 2020-21, where he had 12 points in 53 games on five goals and seven assists. He had 77 blocked shots and 93 hits in that season and finished as a plus-nine.
