Anaheim Ducks Notes:

The Ducks struggled to keep the puck out of their net last season allowing an average of 3.57 goals per game but a 2-0 shutout victory over the Sharks in their opener may be a sign things are changing in Orange County.

Vegas Golden Knights Notes:

The Golden Knights are heavy favorites to win this matchup after getting off to a strong start this season (2-0-0) but Anaheim has won its only game of the year and has some feisty young talent with something to prove.

Anaheim Ducks Lineup:

Gauthier-Carlsson-Killorn
Fabbri-McTavish-Zegras

Players To Watch:

Anaheim – Trevor Zegras has been a polarizing player early in his NHL career with some highlight reel goals but the doubters say not enough substance to his game. Zegras battled through an injury-plagued 2023-24 season and is hoping to rebound this year and return more to his form of two years ago when he was mentioned as a potential young superstar in the league.

Vegas – Ivan Barbashev is one of the hottest players in the league with six points in two games for the Golden Knights. Barbashev has always had the potential to be a scoring threat as he produced a 26-goal, 60-point season for St. Louis in 2021. Barbashev is getting the chance this season on the Knights’ top line with Jack Eichel and Mark Stone and is making the most of his opportunity.

Injuries:

Anaheim
G John Gibson – IR – Est. return November 8

Vegas
C William Karlsson – IR – Est. return October 15

Next game

Anaheim – October 16 vs. Utah
Vegas – October 15 at Washington
