Calgary Flames Notes:

The Flames were 13-12-1 in the Pacific Division last season. Calgary was 18th in the NHL in goals scored last season averaging 3.09 goals per game. Calgary’s defense allowed 3.26 goals per game last season. Flame stars Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau believe Calgary has a “sneaky good” amount of talent and are hoping the Flames will be a surprise playoff contender.

Vancouver Canucks Notes:

The Canucks host Pacific Division rival, the Calgary Flames in their home opener. The Canucks had a 20-12-1 record in division play last season. Vancouver was 6th in the league in goal scoring last season averaging 3.40 goals per game. The Canucks tied for 5th in the NHL allowing only 2.70 goals per game.

Calgary – Young 19-year-old winger, Samuel Honzek, will get a chance on the 1st line next to Nazem Kadri and Andrei Kuzmenko. Honzek was one of the leaders in preseason scoring with 7 points.

Vancouver – Free Agent signee Jake DeBrusk arrives in Vancouver after an up-and-down stint in Boston. DeBrusk will be on his natural LW with dynamic center Elias Pettersson and is likely to have a big year for the Cup contending Canucks.
