However, they were able to stop their losing streak and start April with a victory, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in a shootout last night. Artturi Lehkonen scored the shootout winner for the Avalanche.

The Blue Jackets beat Nashville on Tuesday night, 8-4, and have won three of their last four games. Columbus has scored 17 regulation goals in the three wins, with two of the wins coming in the shootout. This is the second and final meeting between these two clubs, with the Blue Jackets beating the Avalanche 6-4 in the first meeting on October 12.

Nathan MacKinnon is second in the NHL scoring race, with 30 goals and 80 assists for 110 points. MacKinnon extended his point streak to five games last night with an assist on Cale Makar’s goal in the 3rd period. In the first meeting between these two teams, MacKinnon had a goal and an assist and got a ten-minute misconduct penalty with less than 15 seconds left in the third period.

Sean Monahan missed over two months with an injury, but since returning to the lineup on March 24, he has been on fire, with seven points in four games. Monahan had the ninth four-point game of his career in the Blue Jackets’ 8-4 victory over the Predators. In the first meeting between these clubs, the 30-year-old, Brampton, Ontario native had a goal and an assist in the Columbus victory.
