Columbus Blue Jackets News & Notes:

The Blue Jackets have performed well against the Metropolitan Division with a 7-3-2 record as they travel to New York to face the Rangers. The Blue Jackets have been one of the hottest teams in hockey over their last ten games, with an 8-2-0 record. Columbus is amid a six-game winning streak that has catapulted them into the first Wild Card spot.

New York Rangers News & Notes:

The Rangers have been disappointing this season, and their play against their division could be part of the reason; New York is 4-7-0 against the Metropolitan Division this season. Another reason could be the Rangers’ record at MSG, which is a pedestrian 9-9-2. New York has shown signs of turning it around lately, as they’re 5-3-2 in their last ten games, but it may be too late to salvage the season.

Players To Watch:

Columbus Blue Jackets

There are so many good stories in Columbus for a team not expected to contend this season – Zach Werenski is a Norris contender, Kirill Marchenko is a breakout star, and Sean Monahan’s resurgence. When you combine them, you get a fun, exciting team that has bought in and is playing for something more than themselves.

New York Rangers

Artemi Panarin scored twice in a 5-3 victory over the Utah Hockey Club on Thursday night, the “Bread Man” leads the team in goals (19) and points (47) as he leads the Rangers’ attack. The Russian star has been dominant for New York since signing as an Unrestricted Free Agent (formerly of Columbus) in 2019. Panarin has had at least 92 points in every full season with the Rangers.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
