Detroit Red Wings News & Notes:

The Red Wings suffered a brutal 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. That loss all but ends their chances of making the Stanley Cup playoffs. They are still alive, but it’s a slim chance. They trail Montreal by eight points for the final wild-card spot with five games left. Detroit needs to win out and hope all the teams around them lose to have any shot.

Florida Panthers News & Notes:

The Panthers snapped a five-game skid with a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. One of their losses over the last five games came at the hands of these Red Wings, which they lost 2-1 on Sunday. With four games left to their season, including tonight, they are still alive for the Atlantic Division title.
