The Red Wings got back in the win column as they beat the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers on Thursday 5-2. They have now scored three or more goals in nine of their last ten games since Todd McLellan has taken over. They are 8-2-0 with McLellan at the helm. The Red Wings are averaging 4.1 goals per game under their new head coach while allowing an average of three goals per game. Cam Talbot has won his last five straight starts posting a 2.77 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. They sit three points behind the Boston Bruins for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Lightning got back in the win column as well on Thursday with a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks in a shootout. They are now 4-5-1 in their last ten and have scored an average of 2.5 goals per game while allowing 3.0 goals per game. They hold the third spot in the Atlantic Division by two points over the Bruins.
