Edmonton Oilers News & Notes:

Edmonton has won two in a row and four of their last five games to close within four points of Pacific Division-leading Vegas. The Oilers are 7-2-1 in their last ten games and are 12-6-2 on the road this season. Edmonton is 15-5-2 when they stay out of the box more than their opponents.

Minnesota Wild News & Notes:

Minnesota has been dealing with significant injuries over the past few weeks and has dropped two of their last three but are still 7-3-0 in their last ten games. General Manager Bill Guerin provided some updates on the injured Wild players – Kaprizov continues to skate and is getting close to a return possibly in the next game or two. Brock Faber has begun working out off the ice but no skating as of yet. Lauko continues to skate and is progressing. It will be a while before Brodin is back. This is the final regular season meeting between these clubs, with the series split at one game apiece, with both teams winning on the other squad’s home ice.

Players To Watch:

Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid scored the lone goal and game-winner in the Oilers 1-0 victory over the Kings on Monday night. The All-World center has moved up the scoring leaderboard, now with 59 points (17g, 42a), good for 6th in the league. Teammate and fellow All-World center Leon Draisaitl leads the club in points with 64 (31g, 33a) and is 2nd in the NHL behind only Nathon MacKinnon’s 70 points.

Minnesota Wild

With the absence of Kirill Kaprizov, the Wild have had multiple players step up to help fill the void. Matt Boldy, Marco Rossi, and Mats Zuccarello have all had multi-point games while Kaprizov has been on the shelf. Rossi has had a four-point game and a three-point game in Wild victories, Boldy has also chipped in with two multi-point games in Minnesota wins, and finally, Zuccarello has four multi-point games all in Wild triumphs. It’s been a team effort in Minnesota to step up in the absence of some of their key players, and they have weathered the storm with Kaprizov’s return right around the corner.
