The Wild travel to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes tonight after a 4-3 shootout win in Washington. Minnesota is the best road team in the NHL with a 14-3-3 record in away games this season. The Wild have won two in a row after struggling with some inconsistency and going 5-5-0 in their last ten games.

Carolina Hurricanes News & Notes:

Tonight is the first meeting between these two teams this season. Carolina has been one of the best home teams in the NHL with a 14-4-0 record. With Minnesota being a great road team and the Canes’ ability to defend their home turf something has to give. Carolina has won four of their last five games and is 12-4-1 when they commit fewer penalties than their opponents.

Matt Boldy has been struggling a bit to find his game lately, with only three points in his last ten games, but he was able to score the game-winning shootout goal against the Capitals on Thursday. The Millis, Massachusetts native has seven career shootout goals with six game-winners. The 6-foot-2 winger also won the Wild’s last game, which ended in a shootout with a 5-4 victory over Utah on December 10.

Carolina Hurricanes

Martin Necas has points in his last two games after going six games without a point. The 25-year-old center leads the Hurricanes with 46 points (15g, 31a) in 38 games. The young forward had one goal in two games against the Wild a year ago.
