Montreal Canadiens News & Notes

Today, the Canadiens announced that forward Emil Heineman will miss 4-6 weeks after being hit by a car while in Salt Lake City. Recently, Montreal has been on an impressive run to get themselves back into competitive reach of the Wild Card race and Atlantic Division standings.

While Montreal will still likely sell off a couple of roster pieces, seeing them add a long-term addition to their core wouldn’t be surprising.

Utah Hockey Club News & Notes

In their first season as an organization, Utah has taken steps to show that they aren’t your parents, Arizona Coyotes. Unfortunately for Utah, the additions and spending haven’t resulted in standings results. While they come into the NHL Trade Deadline as sellers, could they try to package picks and players for long-term solutions, or will they spend big in free agency?

Players To Watch

Montreal Canadiens

Cole Caufield is leading the Canadiens in goals (23) and has six goals in his last 10 games. Caufield’s scoring streak has helped keep the Habs in their winning ways.

Utah Hockey Club

Mikhail Sergachev is an astounding -12 in the last 10 games; uncharacteristic. With the injuries on the back end, Sergachev will take a higher time on ice and have a higher impact on every game. If he can balance out his play, that will benefit the team immensely.

Injury Report:

Montreal Canadiens

LW Emil Heineman – Out 3-4 Weeks
D David Reinbacher – Out 5-6 Months

Edmonton Oilers: Bringing Back The Same Goalies

There’s a former Italian soccer player named Gennaro Gattuso, who began his coaching career after his playing days were over. He has a viral and funny moment where, during a media availability, he said, “Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe sh**”; obviously referring to the soccer team he coached at the time. Even though the quote is […]

Opinion: Why Rangers’ Zibanejad Will Return to Form This Upcoming Season

Last season was a rough one for New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad. For starters, his production was not what it should have been for someone who is being paid to be the team’s number one center. Zibanejad, 32, had 62 points (20 goals and 42 assists) while playing in all 82 games last season. […]

How do the Red Wings Stack Up Against the Rest of the NHL

Detroit has been criticized for its slow pace of improvement while attempting to return to the playoffs. Further critiques among fans will involve their holes at the top line left-wing and first pair left defense (or second pair right defense, depending on how you look at the lineup card). So with that, let’s take a […]
