New Jersey Devils News & Notes:
The Devils travel to Minnesota, losers of four of their last five games, most recently a 4-0 shutout loss to the Western Conference leading Winnipeg Jets. New Jersey is 21-16-2 away from the Prudential Center this season and sits solidly in third place in the Metropolitan Division with an eight point lead over fourth place Columbus, with less than ten games remaing.
Minnesota Wild News & Notes:
Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek have resumed skating, but the pair is still considered week-to-week, and there is no timetable for their return. Defenseman David Jiricek suffered a lacerated spleen in the Iowa Wild’s game last Saturday and will miss the remainder of the season. On the ice, the Wild won on Thursday, defeating the Washington Capitals 4-2 to snap a two-game losing streak. Minnesota is clinging to a two-point lead for the first Wild Card spot over the charging St. Louis Blues, who have won eight straight games. The Wild hosts New Jersey tonight in the first meeting of a home-and-home series that will resume Monday night in New Jersey.

Players To Watch:
New Jersey Devils
Captain Nico Hischier had his eight-game point streak snapped last night in Winnipeg. Hischier is third on the Devils in scoring with 59 points (30g, 29a) in 68 games. This is Hischier’s second 30+ goal season, he had 31 goals during the 2022-2023 season. In 14 games against the Central Division this season, Hischier has seven goals and eight assists.
Minnesota Wild
Filip Gustavsson has been a rock for the Wild all season long. The 26-year-old Swede has set a career-high in wins with 29, to go with a 2.46 goals against average, a .918 save percentage, and five shutouts. The injury-plagued Wild have relied on Gustavsson in March, especially with the goaltender posting a 6-3-1 record with an NHL-best .940 save percentage, a positive goals saved above expected in all but one game, and he leads the NHL with nine ‘Steals’ with four of them coming this month. Hat tip to Mike Kelly (@MikeKellyNHL) for the stats.
