New Jersey Devils News & Notes:

The Devils will try to increase their winning streak to four straight games this afternoon as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins. New Jersey is 12-6-3 against the Metropolitan Division and is 19-14-2 on the road this season. This is the third of four meetings between these two clubs this season, with the Devils winning the first two contests by a combined score of 6-2. The final meeting between the two teams takes place on April 11 in New Jersey.

Pittsburgh Penguins News & Notes:

The Penguins have won three games in a row as they host the Devils on Saturday afternoon. The Penguins are 5-12-4 against the Metropolitan Division and are 16-13-5 at home this season. Pittsburgh is 25-6-5 when they score three or more goals in a game. The Penguins are six points out of the second Wild Card spot, but a chance at the playoffs seems unlikely because Pittsburgh will have to leapfrog seven teams to gain a spot.

Players To Watch:

New Jersey Devils

Jesper Bratt had been struggling in March with just two assists in his first five games this month, but Bratt has rebounded in the last two games with consecutive three-point nights. The 26-year-old Swede had two goals and four assists combined in victories over the Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers, respectively. Bratt leads the Devils in scoring with 76 points (19g, 57a) in 67 games.

Pittsburgh Penguins

During the Penguins’ three-game winning streak, Rickard Rakell has a goal and four assists. Rakell’s goal in Pittsburgh’s 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night gave the Sundbyberg, Sweden native his third 30+ goal season and first since he scored 34 with the Anaheim Ducks in the 2017-2018 season. Rakell has one goal in the two previous meetings with the Devils.

Report: Kenny Albert To Be New Voice of the Rangers

Edmonton Oilers Pregame Thoughts

The battle of the depleted lineups was amusing. Winnipeg didn’t have Josh Morrissey or Connor Hellebuyck playing last night, just for Playoff resting reasons. But they do have injuries to Gabriel Vilardi and Nikolaj Ehlers. And now, Dylan Samberg is bound to miss time due to leaving the game after blocking a slap shot. Adam […]
