New York Islanders Notes:

The Islanders picked up their first victory of the season in a 6-2 win over the struggling Colorado Avalanche. The Isles got a pair of goals from Brock Nelson in the win. The Islanders were 18-20-6 on the road last season. They split the season series with the Blues last season, losing 4-0 in St.Louis and winning 4-2 at home.

St. Louis Blues Notes:

The Blues are coming off a 4-1 home loss to the Wild in which Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson scored an empty net goal. St.Louis has faced multi-goal deficits in every game this season, which is not a recipe for winning hockey. St Louis has come back to win two of those games, which shows the Blues are a resilient group.

New York Islanders Projected Lineup: (subject to change)

Duclair-Horvat-Barzal

Tsyplakov-Nelson-Palmieri

Lee-Pageau-Holmstrom

Cizikas-MacLean-Wahlstrom

Players To Watch:

NYI – Kyle Palmieri has 20 goals since Patrick Roy took over as head coach on the Island, the veteran presence has been a great addition to the Islanders. Palmieri is coming off his best season, tying his career-high in goals with 30.

St. Louis – newcomer Philip Broberg has been a nice addition to the Blues back end after coming over on an offer sheet from the Edmonton Oilers. Broberg has a four-game point streak and could become the first defenseman in Blues history to start his career with a five-game point streak if he can register a point tonight.

Edmonton Oilers Thoughts: Stanley Cup Final – Game 2

There haven’t been enough mentions about Corey Perry’s subtle backhand pass on the Overtime winner. The 40-year-old was probably our team’s worst forward in last year’s Playoffs, but the complete 180 he’s made in this year’s Playoffs is what you’d read if you looked up Fountain Of Youth on the internet. Also, with the third-period […]
