Ottawa Senators News & Notes:

The Senators have been playing good hockey lately and have climbed into the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Senators take a three-game road winning streak into MSG tonight where they face the Rangers. When scoring three or more goals the Senators are nearly unbeatable with a 21-3-2 record in those games. Ottawa has won four of their last five contests during their push to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Is this the year?

New York Rangers News & Notes:

New York is 10-9-2 at home this season but has been playing better hockey in their last ten games with a record of 6-1-3 which has allowed a Rangers team that disappointed many and began to sell off some veterans to jump back into playoff contention. The Rangers have been tough to beat when scoring three or more goals going 16-6-3 in those contests. This is the second of three meetings between these two clubs with the Rangers taking the first meeting 2-1 in New York.

Players To Watch:

Ottawa Senators

After a strong first three months of the season, Tim Stutzle has struggled in January with only five points (3g, 2a) in ten games after producing 40 points in his first 36 games. The 23-year-old center still leads the Senators with 45 points despite a small dip in production in January.

New York Rangers

In December, Chris Kreider had four points (3g, 1a) as the Rangers were in a free fall, losing nine of 12 games. But since the start of January Kreider has found his game with four points in six games as the Rangers have gone 3-1-2 over that stretch and fought their way back into playoff contention. If the Rangers want to crawl all the way back into a playoff spot they’re going to need the Chris Kreider of January for the rest of the season.

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 3

“Death, Taxes and you being upset with the refereeing” – Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch, a week ago.
