Philadelphia Flyers Notes:
The Flyers are going young, 14 of the 23 rostered players for Philadelphia are age 25 or younger. The youth movement is led by potential Calder Trophy candidates 18-year-old Jett Luchanko and 19-year-old Matvei Michkov. General Manager Daniel Briere said that Luchanko “has blown us away from day one”. The young forwards should be key offensive contributors for the Flyers in the 2024-25 season.
Calgary Flames Notes:
Plenty of excitement surrounds the Flames home opener after the incredible 6-5 comeback victory in overtime against Vancouver in game one. The Flames trailed 4-1 after the 1st period but battled back and eventually won it on a goal from Connor Zary. It will be an emotional night as the Flames will honor Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau before the game.

Players To Watch:
Philadelphia – Fedotov has a tough act to follow after Samuel Ersson stopped 24 of 26 shots and 4 of 5 shootout attempts in a shootout victory over the talented Vancouver Canucks. Ersson was the game’s first star. The 6-foot-7 Fedotov will need to stay on his angles and let his big frame and positioning allow him to make saves.
Calgary – Anthony Mantha had an eventful Flames debut with a shorthanded goal as part of a Gordie Howe hat-trick in the win against Vancouver. His line, alongside Jonathan Huberdeau and Martin Pospisil, accounted for three of the Flames’ five goals in the contest.
