Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

Tristan Jarry has been struggling this season, and Coach Mike Sullivan said Jarry was sent back to Pittsburgh to work with Director of Goaltending Jon Elkin. Pittsburgh was a tough-luck loser in their last game, a 4-3 Shootout loss to Calgary. Pittsburgh carried the play for much of the night, outshooting the Flames 38-18 after giving the Flames an early 7-0 advantage in shots.

Edmonton Oilers Notes:

There has been a lot of focus on goaltending in Edmonton, but the offense might be the main problem for the Oilers. The Oilers offense ranks dead last in Shooting Percentage (6.7%) and 28th in Power Play Percentage (10.5%) to go along with a Penalty Kill that’s last in the league as well (54.5%), the Oilers have some special teams issues to get right before they can turn their early season disappointments around.

Pittsburgh Penguins Projected Lineup: (subject to change)

O’Connor-Crosby-Rust
Bunting-Malkin-Rakell
Beauvillier-Eller-Puljujarvi
Hayes-Glass-Acciari

Pettersson-Letang
Grzelcyk-Karlsson
Graves-St. Ivany

Players To Watch:

Pittsburgh Penguins – Rickard Rakell and Lars Eller are tied for the team lead in goals for the Penguins with 4 each. Pittsburgh’s team defense has been lacking so far this season with the Penguins allowing a league-worst 35 goals in only 8 games.

Edmonton Oilers – Connor McDavid had 2 goals in a 3-2 Shootout loss to Carolina. The Oilers are still struggling to find wins this season but McDavid’s multi-goal outburst is a sign that things could be turning in a positive direction for Edmonton.

Edmonton Oilers –

LW Evander Kane – LTIR Month To Month – Est. return February 22

Edmonton Oilers Thoughts: Stanley Cup Final – Game 2

There haven’t been enough mentions about Corey Perry’s subtle backhand pass on the Overtime winner. The 40-year-old was probably our team’s worst forward in last year’s Playoffs, but the complete 180 he’s made in this year’s Playoffs is what you’d read if you looked up Fountain Of Youth on the internet. Also, with the third-period […]
