After losing three straight games, the Sharks snapped their losing streak with a 6-3 win in Detroit on Tuesday night. San Jose is 6-12-5 on the road this season and has struggled when committing more penalties than their opponents, with a 5-11-1 record in those games. This is the second and final meeting between these clubs this season, with the Sharks taking the first meeting 2-1 in overtime on an outstanding individual effort by Alex Wennberg.
Columbus Blue Jackets News & Notes:
There is no other team that is hotter in the Eastern Conference than the Columbus Blue Jackets, winners of five in a row and 8-2-0 in their last ten games Columbus has thrust themselves into playoff contention. If the season ended today, the Blue Jackets would be the second wild-card team. Columbus has been excellent on home ice this year with a 15-5-3 record.

Tyler Toffoli has been a veteran presence relied on to provide leadership and production for a young Sharks team. The 32-year-old Toffoli has done just that, leading San Jose in goals with 16 this season. Toffoli had one goal and two assists in the Sharks victory over the Red Wings that snapped a three-game losing streak.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Zach Werenski has thrown his name into the Norris Trophy hunt with 50 points (15g, 35a) in 44 games for the Blue Jackets. The 27-year-old blueliner has been spearheading the Columbus attack all season but especially in January with 10 points in six games, including two goals in their 3-2 shootout victory over the Flyers on Tuesday night.
