San Jose Sharks News & Notes:

San Jose is dead last in the NHL standings, with the Chicago Blackhawks 4 points above them. There is no doubt we expected the Sharks to be outside the playoffs this season. However, being last in the league wasn’t on the menu. For the Sharks, success this season is adding a couple of young prospects at the deadline.

Winnipeg Jets News & Notes:

The Jets recently signed Vladislav Namestnikov to a two-year contract extension. While they’ve been rumored to be on the market for a second-line center, this extension shouldn’t stop them from adding. Winnipeg has a six point lead on the second place Dallas Stars in the Central Division and are one point behind the Washington Capitals for the Presidents Trophy chase.

San Jose Sharks Projected Lines:

Zetterlund-Wennberg-Smith

Players To Watch:

San Jose Sharks

Tyler Toffoli is leading the way offensively for the Sharks. With 21 goals this season, Toffoli could hit the trade market as a depth scoring option for Cup Contenders.

Winnipeg Jets

Kyle Connor leads the Jets in points with 70, following a 4 Nations Tournament where he was scratched for a pair of games. Connor Hellebuyck has been dominant in net for the Jets, after a rest day following the 4 Nations, I’d expect Hellebuyck to be between the pipes tonight.

Injury Report:

San Jose Sharks

C Logan Couture – LTIR
RW Nikolai Kovalenko – DTD
D Jan Rutta – IR
D Timothy Liljegren – Undisclosed

Winnipeg Jets

C Morgan Barron – IR
