Seattle Kraken News & Notes:

With the acquisition of Kaapo Kakko, it will be interesting to see if the Kraken moves on from Chris Tanev or Yanni Gourde before the trade deadline. Both players are on expiring contracts and have been in trade rumors early in the season. There’s a clear path forward with a young core on this Kraken roster. Can they build around that to become a playoff contender sooner than later?

Colorado Avalanche News & Notes:

After a couple of goaltending trades early in the season, the Avalanche seem to be figuring things out defensively. Colorado is working their way back up the Central Division standings with seven wins in their last ten games.

One question that will loom over the Avalanche for the rest of the year is Mikke Rantanen’s contract status. Rantanen is rumored to be demanding upward of $14m AAV on his next contract. Can the Avalanche afford that ticket?

Players To Watch:

Seattle Kraken

Kaapo Kakko is pointless in his two games with the Kraken and a -2. Could he get his point production going with a bump to the top line? The Kraken certainly hope so.

Colorado Avalanche

Casey Mittelstadt has had a mediocre offensive season, but his -18 jumps off the page at you. With the Avs playing better defensively, Mittelstadt has to play better two-way hockey.

F Jordan Eberle – IR

Colorado Avalanche

C Jonathan Drouin – OUT

D Josh Manson – IR

LW Gabriel Landeskog – LTIR

Edmonton Oilers Thoughts: Stanley Cup Final – Game 2

There haven’t been enough mentions about Corey Perry’s subtle backhand pass on the Overtime winner. The 40-year-old was probably our team’s worst forward in last year’s Playoffs, but the complete 180 he’s made in this year’s Playoffs is what you’d read if you looked up Fountain Of Youth on the internet. Also, with the third-period […]
