Toronto Maple Leafs News & Notes:

The Leafs beat a tough Colorado team last night 2-1 to stretch their winning streak to two games and travel to New York this evening trying to extend their streak to three straight wins. Toronto is 19-11-2 on the road this season and they are 5-4-1 in their last ten games. This is the third and final meeting of the season between these two clubs with the teams splitting the first two matchups. Toronto won the most recent contest 3-2 on February 28.

New York Rangers News & Notes:

The Rangers have lost two in a row and have been outscored 5-2 in those contests. The losses have dropped the Rangers out of a Wild Card position with Ottawa and Montreal now holding down the two spots with the Rangers a point behind the Canadiens. New York is 16-16-3 at home this season and will need to take care of business at home if they want to climb back into playoff position.

Players To Watch:

Toronto Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews has had a down year by his standards, the 27-year-old Center is on pace for 32 goals this season, the lowest total of his career. His previous low was 34 goals during the 2017-2018 season. This will also be his lowest game total since that same 2017-2018 season (other than the Covid year). Matthews is still third on the Leafs in scoring (26-34-60) and is finally healthy after battling injuries this season. A motivated, healthy Matthews, down the stretch and into the playoffs, could be just what the Leafs need to make a deep run.

New York Rangers

Artemi Panarin extended his point streak to ten games with a goal in the Rangers 2-1 loss to Calgary on Tuesday night. The 33-year-old Korkino, Russia native, has 14 points (7g, 7a) in ten games in March. Panarin leads the Rangers in scoring with 73 points in 67 games. Panarin has one goal in the two previous meetings versus the Leafs.
