NHL Game Preview: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Buffalo Sabres | 03/30/2024

Buffalo, NY – The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing off against the Buffalo Sabres tonight as the leafs look to survive tonight’s game without suffering another injury. The Leafs have had lots of injury troubles lately, with Rielly, Edmundson, Liljegren, Marner and Järnkrok all injured as of the past month. The Leafs will look to play well in their absence as they push towards a playoff spot.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs and Sabres last faced off against each other March 6th in a game which saw the Leafs win a narrow 2-1 victory in overtime. The game before the Leafs were embarrassed in a 9-3 Sabres win. The Leafs will look to limit the goals from the Sabres while they look to add offense of their own.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (41-22-9)

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Ilya Samsonov gets the start tonight after leaving last Saturday’s game with a minor muscle injury. Samsonov has been solid these past few months since coming back from being waived and will need to be solid again tonight likely battling against Luukkonen.
  • TJ Brodie has had a down year across the board, and spent a couple games watching from the press box but with injuries on the back end he is playing a key role on the blue line once again. Look for Brodie to make quick and smart decisions and limit his mistakes as he looks to replicate some of what has brought him success in the past.
  • Simon Benoit has been a success story and has become a fan favourite after being unqualified by his former team last summer. Benoit has shown that he belongs in the NHL and was rewarded with a contract extension for the next 3 seasons. Look for Benoit to keep playing the same way tonight as he defends.
