HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs and Oilers last faced off on January 16th in what turned out to be a 4-2 win for the Oilers. The Oilers and Leafs matchup is always an entertaining one as it features two of the best hockey players in the world, Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews. Former Leaf, Zach Hyman, is just two goals away from hitting 50 goals and will look to help his team win against the Leafs while the Leafs look to shut down the Oilers’ defense.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (39-20-9)

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Auston Matthews has been on another level this season and currently sits at 57 goals on the season. Matthews has rounded out his game over the past couple of seasons and will look to play a full game tonight, to add offense for the Leafs while limiting the offense of the Oilers.
  • Conor Timmins had been out of the Leafs lineup for quite some time with an injury and then mono but was brought into the lineup, with Brodie sitting out as a healthy scratch. It looks as if Timmins will be in the lineup for his second game in a row tonight. Look for Timmins to continue to build momentum off of the last game and move the puck up the ice well while limiting his defensive mistakes.
  • Max Domi has been a great addition to the Leafs this season and has great playmaking skills. Domi has dreamed of being a Leaf and now is living the dream out and finds himself back on the wing of Auston Matthews. Domi has been working hard and has been building some clear chemistry with Matthews.
