HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs and Rangers last faced off against each other December 19th in a game that saw former Leaf Erik Gustafsson racking up 3 assists. The Rangers came out on top, winning 5-2. The Leafs will look to avenge themselves tonight as they’ve been playing a more consistent game as of late.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (34-17-8)

3rd in the Atlantic, 9th in the NHL

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Ilya Lyubushkin will be starting his second tenure with the Leafs tonight after the Leafs acquired the Russian defender Thursday night from the Anaheim Ducks. Many Leafs are excited to have Lyubushkin back including a close friend of his, Ilya Samsonov. Look for Lyubushkin to play a simple game tonight as he eases back into Toronto’s lineup and maybe throw around his body too.
  • Calle Järnkrok returns to the Leafs lineup tonight after being out of the lineup with a broken knuckle. Järnkrok has been versatile for this Leafs team and can play all throughout the lineup as well as playing penalty killing minutes. Look for Järnkrok to catch up to speed quickly as he plays on the third line tonight.
  • Timothy Liljegren has been out day to day with an injury and is on his way back to recovery. Things are looking positive as Liljegren skated this morning and is a possibility for tonight’s game. Liljegren has been playing some of the best hockey of the season and will look to keep that up as he joins the lineup again.

Opinion: Oilers’ Stuart Skinner Showing Some Steadiness Between the Pipes

When it comes to Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, one never knows what they are going to get. On one hand, one might see a version of Skinner, 26, who stands tall, comes up with big saves, does not get out of position, and does not allow soft goals. When this version of Skinner is […]
