NHL Game Preview: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Philadelphia Flyers | 02/15/2024

Toronto, ON – The Toronto Maple Leafs clash against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight as the Leafs look to have a healthier lineup tonight. The Leafs are in game 2 of the 5-game suspension that their top defenseman Morgan Rielly received and will look to make it 2 consecutive wins for the team without Rielly.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs and Flyers haven’t faced each other since January 8th, 2023, a 6-2 win for the Leafs. Since then, the Flyers have become a considerably better team and are in a playoff spot as of today. The Leafs surely can’t underestimate the Flyers as their team has solid offensive abilities and will capitalize on mistakes their opponent makes.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (27-16-8)

4th in the Atlantic, 13th in the NHL

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Bobby McMann is coming off of a hat trick last game in a depth role with the Leafs. McMann has been sitting on the sidelines and wasn’t expected to play last game, but with some of the team getting sick, McMann was called in to play, and didn’t hold back potting 3 goals for the team, ultimately leading the Leafs to their win over St. Louis. He’s earned another game tonight with the Leafs and will look to capitalize on the ice time he’s given.
  • John Tavares missed last game due to injury and will look to draw back into the lineup tonight for the Leafs. The captain will look to have a strong game tonight and keep his leg moving in his return from illness. Keep an eye on Tavares as he looks to contribute at 5-on-5 and on the powerplay.
  • Mitch Marner was the other forward who missed last game due to injury, and should also be drawing back into the lineup tonight. Marner has had a decent year this season but hasn’t quite been as dominant as he’s been known to be. Look for Marner to start gaining more momentum in the second half of the season as the Leafs push toward a playoff birth.
