Utah Hockey Club Notes:

Utah has started the season fast, they are the highest-scoring team in the league with 16 goals in three games. However, they have given up 11 goals in those same three games, which is 26th best in the league. Utah will face a high-powered Devils attack that is 2nd in the league (behind Utah) with 14 goals scored in 4 games.

New Jersey Devils Notes:

The Devils have had a strong start to the season; their defense has been especially sound, allowing only 9 goals through 4 games without new addition Brett Pesce and potential young star Luke Hughes. The defense should be even better when these two valuable pieces return to the lineup. The Devils are a complete team who are poised for a deep playoff run.

Utah Hockey Club Lineup:

McBain-Cooley-Guenther
Crouse-Kerfoot-Maccelli

Players To Watch:

Utah – Clayton Keller, the first captain in Utah Hockey Club history, is their leader and an offensive catalyst for the surprising high-scoring Hockey Club. Keller leads Utah in scoring with 6 points (3 goals and 3 assists) in 3 games.

New Jersey – Paul Cotter has had an excellent start to the 2024-25 season with four goals and an assist in the team’s first 4 games. Cotter’s season high in goals is 13 and he’s already almost a quarter of the way there through only a week of the season. Cotter has been a nice offensive surprise coming from an already deep and talented forward group.

C Nick Bjugstad – OUT Week to Week – Est. return early November

New Jersey

Taking a Look at the Detroit Red Wings Draft History

I have written that the Detroit Red Wings have not been able to acquire a superstar player in the NHL Entry Draft due to their not having won the NHL’s draft lottery since its inception in 1995. Not breaking news involving our Edmonton Oilers, but still a pretty cool headline for nostalgia purposes. Jason Smith, who was part of the Oilers blueline from 1999/2000 to 2000/2008, and team captain during their Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006, has signed on to be the head coach of the WHL’s Edmonton […]
