Utah Hockey Club Notes:

Utah Hockey Club won its inaugural game on Tuesday night 5-2 over Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks before a sell-out crowd of 16,020 (including 4,889 with an obstructed view). Utah joins the Vegas Golden Knights as the only two teams in the last 30 years to win their first game. Dylan Guenther scored the first-ever goal for the Utah Hockey Club and added an empty netter later to seal the win.

New York Islanders Notes:

The Islanders will get the 24-25 season started with their home opener against the Utah Hockey Club. After an inconsistent preseason, the Islanders are focused on avoiding the slow start that hindered them in past seasons. Their October schedule includes matchups against tough teams like the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, and defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

Utah Hockey Club Lineup:

Keller-Hayton-Schmaltz
McBain-Cooley-Guenther
Crouse-Kerfoot-Maccelli
Carcone-Stenlund-Doan

Derzi-Sergachev
Kesselring-Valimaki
Bortuzzo-Cole

Ingram
Vejmelka

New York Islanders Lineup:

Duclair-Horvat-Barzal
Tsyplakov-Nelson-Palmieri
Lee-Pageau-Holmstrom
Cizikas-MacLean-Wahlstrom

Romanov-Dobson
Pelech-Pulock
Reilly-Mayfield

Varlamov
Sorokin

Players To Watch:

Utah – Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther are poised to be key offensive contributors for Utah. Guenther scored twice in the opener and Cooley picked up a pair of assists. Cooley, known for his elite shot, and Guenther, another rising star, will form a core part of Utah’s attack.

NYI – Ilya Sorokin, who is coming off back surgery, will likely share some of the early-season workload with Semyon Varlamov. The Islanders are relying on depth scoring from players like Anders Lee and Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who need to step up, with New York’s top six carrying the bulk of the offensive expectations.

Injuries:

Utah
D John Marino – OUT – Est. return October 12
C Nick Bjugstad – OUT Week to Week – Est. return early November

NYI
RW Hudson Fasching – Day-To-Day
