Vegas Golden Knights News & Notes:

Vegas had lost two in a row at home in overtime before traveling across the country to take on the Rangers on Sunday night. The Golden Knights are tied with Edmonton atop the Pacific Division but are only 3-4-3 in their last ten games. Vegas is 12-9-3 on the road this season and is fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 3.4 goals per game.

New York Rangers News & Notes:

JT Miller returns to New York after the Rangers complete a blockbuster trade with Vancouver sending Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a 1st round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft (top 13 protected) to the Canucks. The Rangers also received Jackson Dorrington and Erik Brannstrom in the trade. Miller was in the lineup right away as the Rangers faced the Bruins at TD Garden, the 31-year-old pivot scored twice in his debut but it wasn’t enough as the Bruins won 6-3 behind a hat trick from David Pastrnak. The loss was the third straight for the Rangers as they try to hang around in a wildly congested playoff race.

Players To Watch:

Vegas Golden Knights

Jack Eichel had his seven-game point streak snapped in the Knights’ 2-1 overtime loss to Columbus on Thursday. The North Chelmsford, Massachusetts native will look to start a new streak tonight at MSG. Eichel leads Vegas in scoring with 16 goals and 48 assists for 64 points in 51 games played. In the previous matchup against the Rangers, Eichel had an assist on the lone Vegas goal in a 2-1 New York victory.

New York Rangers

All eyes will be on J.T. Miller as he returns to New York after being traded from the Rangers during the 2017-2018 season. Miller blossomed in Vancouver with his three previous seasons ending with 99, 82, and 103 points before his tumultuous 2024-2025 season. Miller gets a fresh start in New York and paid immediate dividends with a two-goal effort in his debut. The Rangers hope that Miller can bring the same offensive production to Broadway that he showed in the Pacific Northwest, and if his first game in a Rangers’ sweater is any indication things could be looking up for New York.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
