Washington Capitals News & Notes:

The Capitals picked up their fifth straight win on Tuesday night as they beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2. They have scored three goals per game in that five-game stretch while allowing 0.80 goals per game in that stretch. That’s due to the performance of Logan Thompson who started all five games posting a 0.79 goals-against average and a .969 save percentage. Alex Ovechkin comes into this game 21 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all-time.

Seattle Kraken News & Notes:

The Kraken picked up their second straight win on Monday with a 6-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres. The win streak comes at the right time as they are 4-6-0 in January after dropping the first four games to start the month. They are averaging 3.20 goals per game while allowing 3.50 goals per game. Since returning from injury Joey Daccord is 4-1-0 with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
