The Capitals have won two straight games and three of their last four. Spencer Carbury is one of the early leaders for the Jack Adams Award as Coach of the Year. The Capitals are supposed to be trending downward, with some serious injury concerns, but they continue to win. Washington is 5-2-0 on the road this season.

Utah Hockey Club News & Notes:

Utah is 4-3-1 at the Delta Center this season. The Hockey Club has been alternating wins and losses recently, and Utah has been consistently inconsistent. The potential is there to string some wins together as evidenced by their quality win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Players To Watch:

Washington Capitals

Alex Ovechkin continues to amaze at 39 years old. Fresh off a hat-trick in the Capitals’ 5-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights the Great Eight is tied for the NHL lead in goals with 13. Ovechkin has 866 career goals and is only 29 goals away from breaking the all-time goal-scoring record held by Wayne Gretzky with 894 goals.

Utah Hockey Club

Defenseman Mikhail Sergachev has goals in two straight games and is in third on the Hockey Club in scoring with 12 points (3g, 9a). Sergachev is on pace for a 58-point season which would be the second-best season of his career. The Utah defenseman had a 64-point season in 2022-23 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
