Washington Capitals News & Notes:

The Capitals are one of the hottest teams in the NHL. They won their sixth straight game on Thursday with a 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken. Alex Ovechkin scored an empty netter to put him 20 goals away from the record for most goals in an NHL career. The Capitals are currently on a 12-game point streak. Washington is 8-0-3 in January and are averaging 3.09 goals per game while allowing 1.82 goals per game.

Vancouver Canucks News & Notes:

The Canucks dropped their second straight on Thursday as they lost 6-2 to the Edmonton Oilers. They’ve now dropped 13 of their last 17 and are 4-8-5 in that stretch. Even with their recent skid, they are still only three points back of the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. They need the goal-scoring to turn around as they are averaging just 2.18 goals per game in their last 17 games.
