Johnny Beecher opened the scoring, getting Boston on the board first early into the first period at 15:07. The goal had originally been credited to Mark Kastelic, however, Beecher redirected a point shot from Kastelic through Sergei Bobrovsky’s five-hole. The Panthers tied up the game quickly after Boston’s goal… Anton Lundell struck the first for Florida to tie it to 1-1 when he intercepted a behind-the-net pass from Mason Lohrei, and jammed the puck over Jeremy Swayman’s pads on the goal line. Sam Reinhart put the Panthers ahead 2-1 with 8:09 remaining of the opening 20 on a power play when he beat Swayman stick-side straight off the face-off.

Early into the middle frame at 14:52, Brandon Carlo tied the game back up 2-2 when he sent a wrister past Sergei Bobrovsky from behind the right circle. Sam Reinhart struck again, giving the lead back to Florida. Reinhart took the puck from Matt Poitras, rushed toward the net, firing a shot at Jeremy Swayman, who made the save. The rebound made it back to Reinhart, who went on to slide it under Swayman for a 3-2 lead. With 7:01 left of the second, Anton Lundell scored his second of the game for a 4-2 lead when he grabbed up a loose puck in the Bruins’ zone along the right wall and beat Swayman five-hole… Mason Lohrei cut it to 4-3 at 5:53 with a shot from the left circle for his first goal of the season.

Trent Frederic had almost tied the game 4-4 in the third on the power play, however, his net-front shot hit Sergei Bobrovsky’s pad, then flittered up and wide. The remainder of the third was scoreless, the Panthers taking a 4-3 victory.

Johnny Beecher on the 4-3 loss at home: “At the end of the day, a team that’s going to come out on top is the team that out-competes the other… wins the small areas and wins the battles… just something we can go back and learn from, move forward and get better.”
