Mark Scheifele also found the back of the net while Gabriel Vilardi notched two assists in the win. The Jets improved to 35-14-3 on the season and 8-2-1 in their last 11 games.
“We just played our game,” said Kyle Connor on the Jets’ slower start. “We simplified it through the neutral zone and just supported each other more,” Connor added.

Montreal had got a lot of shots off in the first period and entered the first intermission with a 15-7 shot edge, but the tide would turn in the Jets’ favour as they rounded up their play in the second period with a 13-3 shot edge of their own.
Scheifele scored halfway through the second period to put the Jets up 2-1. He drove the net on the left side that saw him get Vilardi’s pass through Montembeault’s pads.
In the dying seconds of the second period, Connor scored his second of the game after David Gustafsson beat Kaiden Guhle on a dump-and-chase play behind Montreal’s net to get the puck to Connor for the Jets’ third goal of the game.
Rasmus Kupari put the finishing touches on the game with an empty net goal and 1:45 left in the game to push the Jets up to a 4-1 victory.
In the win, Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves and recorded his 31st win on the season. Kyle Connor is tied with Mark Scheifele for 29 goals on the year while Connor improved to 65 points to maintain his scoring lead.
