For those that missed the game on Thursday night, it was full of goal-scoring and emotions as both teams mixed it up after the whistle. Ultimately, the Bruins prevailed with a 6-5 win, and forward Brad Marchand found himself in the spotlight again for some questionable antics. Today the NHL’s Player Safety Department weighed in on the incident that occurred against the Seattle Kraken on the road at Climate Pledge Arena, and in the end, it won’t cost the Bruins forward any games, just some cash.
The league announced the following supplementary discipline for the Bruins winger:
Boston’s Brad Marchand has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for a dangerous trip on Seattle’s Oliver Bjorkstrand.
The fine is nothing new for Marchand, as he’s wracked up plenty throughout his career in Boston. He also holds the NHL record for career suspensions with eight, which has cost him a total of 28 games and over $1.4 million in salary.
Bruins fans have grown accustomed to Marchand’s antics over the years, making him a fan favorite in Beantown and one of the most hated players by other fan bases around the league.
On the season, Marchand has recorded 18 goals, 33 assists, and 51 points throughout 49 games, as he is still not at 100 percent after off-season hip surgery.
