NHL Playoff Game Recap: Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues Game Seven (05/04/2025)

The Winnipeg Jets came together, mounting a two-goal comeback in the final two minutes of the third period to force double overtime and take the series to eliminate the St. Louis Blues from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Game Story

The St. Louis Blues opened the scoring as Colton Parayko skated the puck up close to the front of the net on a 2-on-1 with Jordan Kyrou. Connor Hellebuyck challenged Parayko, thinking he would shoot the puck, but he instead passed it to Kyrou, who buried the opening goal to make it a 1-0 game on the first shot of the game.

Mathieu Joseph would pick up the loose puck at the blue line in the neutral zone and fire the puck high blocker side on Hellebuyck to score the insurance marker. The snapshot from distance after Josh Morrissey’s unintentional screen was the early dagger after Kyle Connor bobbled the puck at the blueline, rattling the Jets early in the first period.

The first period ended with a 2-0 score and a rather deflated Canada Life Centre and Whiteout Way crowd. The Blues outshot Winnipeg 7-3 in the period and looked to carry that momentum into the second period.

Past the halfway mark of the second period, the Winnipeg Jets would get the first power play of the game as Oskar Sundqvist was called for slashing.

The power play, which was 4/20 in the series, came up in a big way as Gabriel Vilardi won the offensive-zone draw against Radek Faksa and Kyle Connor got the puck to Cole Perfetti, who redirected the puck high into the net just seven seconds into the power play to make it a 2-1 game.

In the dying minute of the first period, Radek Faksa scored the 3-1 goal to answer the Jets and thwart any momentum they were looking to build off of Perfetti’s goal. The Jets were caught on the end of a shift, and one bad turnover by Nikolaj Ehlers led to the Blues getting a 3-on-2, which Faksa shot high glove side on Hellebuyck.

The second period ended at 3-1 with 1:30 of power play time for the St. Louis Blues as the Winnipeg Jets look for any sort of momentum to get back into the game.

With 1:55 left to play, Vladislav Namestnikov scored a big goal to bring the Jets within one goal and give the Jets hope late in the season. With a 3-2 game at hand, both teams were on their toes and looking to push for anything and everything.

With absolutely everything to gain and everything to lose, the Winnipeg Jets tied the game miraculously with 1.6 seconds left to force overtime against the St. Louis Blues. Nikolaj Ehlers tapped the puck over to Cole Perfetti, who scored the tying goal late in the third period.

Heading into the first overtime, the game stayed put at 3-3. The game would stay tied up at 3-3 through the first overtime, and the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues would go the distance as they prepared for double overtime.

In the dying minutes of the game, Adam Lowry scored the game-winning goal in double overtime on a tip-in goal from Neal Pionk’s shot. The Winnipeg Jets defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in double overtime with 3:50 left in the game

The Winnipeg Jets advanced to the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 4-3 series defeat after a 4-3 double overtime win against the St. Louis Blues.
