Dallas Stars News & Notes:

Dallas looks to pull ahead in the series as they head home to the American Airlines Center for games three and four. After a 4-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in game two, the cracks in the Stars’ lineup began to show as Connor Hellebuyck posted a massive shutout, and the Jets’ top firepower was on full display.

The Stars await to see if Heiskanen is available for game three, but it doesn’t look promising as their top defender has been a game-time decision for a while now.

Winnipeg Jets News & Notes:

The Jets posted a massive 4-0 win over the Stars Friday night at Canada Life Centre. Hellebuyck’s 21-save shutout and Ehlers’ three points (2G, 1A) were the highlights of the game as the series was evened up heading into Dallas.

The Jets received their top defenseman, Josh Morrissey, back in the lineup as he was battling an undisclosed injury prior to game two.

Lian Bischel – Alex Petrovic

Players To Watch:

Dallas Stars

Jason Robertson is due for a game where it’s all him on the scoresheet. I’d say if Robertson could have a big game like Rantanen has had in the playoffs, the Stars are in good hands taking a game or two at home.

Matt Duchene performed well in game two, and his post-game comments reflect the passion he has played with and what the Stars need to play with. If Duchene can elevate his game, he can be a problem for the Jets.

Mikael Granlund is on the Stars’ top line for a reason, and he must have a big game at home to reflect that. If Granlund and his line can be effective against the Jets, game three shouldn’t be as difficult as game two was for the Stars.

Winnipeg Jets

Cole Perfetti had a quiet game two as it was mostly Nikolaj Ehlers and Gabriel Vilardi in the spotlight. Still, Perfetti has been clutch the entire playoff run for Winnipeg so far and will only continue tonight. If Perfetti can get going, the Jets will get a massive boost depth scoring wise that could be the difference maker.

Nino Niederreiter has been solid since Winnipeg acquired him at the 2023 trade deadline. He’s scored big goals as a secondary scorer for Winnipeg and is playing a strong 200-foot game. If Niederreiter can play to that level effectively in game three, all bets are off the table.

Connor Hellebuyck looks like his Vezina-winning ways again, and that should frighten the Stars. After a 21-save performance in game two on Friday night, Hellebuyck and the Jets headed to Dallas to prepare for game three. Hellebuyck will look to have another big playoff-defining game against Dallas as the Jets look to take a game or two on the road.
