In a thrilling announcement, the Anaheim Ducks have revealed the promotion of the promising defensive talent Olen Zellweger. Having dedicated the entirety of the current 2023-24 season to showcasing his skills with the San Diego Gulls in the AHL, Zellweger’s stellar performance has not gone unnoticed. His exceptional contributions have secured him a well-deserved spot on the AHL All-Star Team, proudly representing San Diego on the grand stage.

Olen Zellweger is a 5’10, 189 pound defenceman who is known for his offensive and skating abilities. Zelly thinks and plays the game at such a fast pace. He’s expected to be a puck-rushing, top 4 defenceman in the National Hockey League someday, similar to that of Samuel Girard. Zellweger is a very good skater and uses his elite edges to decept the opponents and to open up space for himself.

He was drafted in 2021, in the 2nd round, going 34th overall to Anaheim. Due to the small sample size and his young age, there were a lot of teams who didn’t know exactly what they were getting with him. Ever since his draft year there’s been plenty of scouts that came out and said if he was a born just a little later and went in the 2022 NHL Draft, he would’ve gone in the top 20.

Keep a close eye out for the upcoming prospect, as he has a lot to offer for the team and will make Ducks games much more entertaining with the offensive abilities he brings.
