Oskar Sundqvist Returns to St. Louis Blues

Today’s forecast in St. Louis: Sunny!

Oskar Sundqvist will wear the Blue Note once again, as Doug Armstrong announced the one-year deal on Wednesday.

Since departing from the Blues in 2022, where he was dealt to Detroit in exchange for Nick Leddy, where he would then go to Minnesota before the trade deadline. Although he sustained a lower-body injury late in the season, he was still able to tally 28 points in 67 games, including a career-best with eight power-play points. The 6’3″ forward was originally a 3rd-round pick to Pittsburgh in 2012, where he would spend the next five seasons before going to St. Louis.

Sundqvist is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion, once with the Penguins in 2016 and with the Blues 2019 “Gloria” run.

Doug Armstrong continues to add Berube-style players to the rosters, and with Sundqvist only getting league minimum, he might still have a few more moves to make before training camp starts. With the addition of Sundqvist, he is the third former Blue to rejoin the franchise behind Sammy Blais and Mackenzie MacEachern
