Breaking: Ottawa Senators Acquire Dylan Cozens from Buffalo Sabres

The trade deadline chaos may have just begun as the Ottawa Senators make a splash by acquiring forward Dylan Cozens, defenseman Dennis Gilbert, and a 2026 second round pick from the Buffalo Sabres. The Senators are sending forward Josh Norris and defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker to the Sabres.

Dylan Cozens

Cozens is in his fifth season all with the Sabres. Buffalo drafted him seventh overall in the 2019 draft. In 340 career games, he has 197 points on 77 goals and 120 assists. He is a career -55 and has 42 power-play points on 12 power-play goals and he has a 47.4 faceoff percentage. This season in 60 games he has 31 points on 11 goals and 20 assists. He is a -14 and has four power-play points two of those coming on goals, and he has a 50.5 faceoff percentage.

Dennis Gilbert

Gilbert this season is playing in his sixth season and is now on his fifth different team. He started with the Chicago Blackhawks playing in 22 games over two seasons. Gilbert recorded three points on a goal and two assists. He then went to Colorado to play with the Avalanche. In three games he was held pointless. He spent two seasons with the Calgary Flames playing in 57 games recording 11 points on two goals and nine assists. This season in 25 games with Buffalo he has five assists.

Josh Norris

Norris is in his sixth season all with the Senators. Ottawa drafted him with the 19th overall pick in the 2017 draft. Norris has played in 236 career games recording 156 points on 90 goals and 66 assists. He is a career -29, with 60 power-play points on 33 power-play goals, and he has a 52.5 faceoff percentage. This season in 53 games he has 33 points on 20 goals and 13 assists. He is minus-five with 11 power-play points, six of those coming on goals with a 53.8 faceoff percentage.

Jared Bernard-Docker

Bernard-Docker is in his fifth season all with the Senators. Ottawa drafted him 26th overall in the 2018 draft. In 129 games he has 20 points on five goals and 15 assists. Bernard-Docker is a minus-four with 216 blocked shots and 113 hits. This season in 25 games he has four points on a goal and three assists. Bernard-Docker is a plus-two with 25 blocked shots and 21 hits.
