Ottawa Senators in the Four Nations Faceoff: Preview

The Ottawa Senators have entered the Four Nations Face-Off holding the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. With the Four Nations Face-Off starting tomorrow the Senators will be represented by four players. Goalie Linus Ullmark is on Team Sweden. Forward Brady Tkachuk and defenseman Jake Sanderson are on Team USA. Sanderson is replacing Quinn Hughes. Finally, defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo is on Team Finland replacing Rasmus Ristolainen.

Linus Ullmark:

Ullmark was traded to the Senators in the offseason from the Boston Bruins. In 25 games this season, he is 12-9-2 with a 2.49 goals against average and a .915 save percentage; he has three shutouts. Of his 25 starts, 16 of them have been quality starts. Ullmark and Team Sweden play Team Canada tomorrow at 8:00 PM EST on TNT.

Brady Tkachuk:

Tkachuk this season in 56 games has 44 points on 21 goals and 23 assists in 18:37 TOI. He has 18 power-play points with 11 of those coming via goal. Tkachuk has four game-winning goals this season as well. He is currently on the third line with J.T. Miller and Matt Boldy. He’s also on the second power-play unit with Boldy, Jake Guentzel, Kyle Connor, and Zach Werenski.

Jake Sanderson:

Sanderson this season in 55 games has 35 points on five goals and 30 assists in 24:25 TOI. He has 20 power-play points this season with three of those coming as goals. Sanderson has recorded 117 blocked shots and 30 hits. He has 126 shots on goals this season. Sanderson has four shorthanded assists and a game-winning goal this season. At practice today he was rotating in and out.

Nikolas Matinpalo:

Matinpalo this season in just 18 games has yet to record a point with the Senators averaging 12:00 TOI.  He has ten blocked shots and eight hits. In the AHL this season in 24 games he has eight points on two goals and six assists. He has one game-winning goal. Matinpalo is on the third defensive pairing with Urho Vaakanainen. Matinpalo and Team Finland will face Tkachuk, Sanderson, and Team USA on Thursday at 8:00 PM EST on ESPN.
