Ottawa Senators Recall Two Forwards

The Ottawa Senators are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Buffalo Sabres last night. The loss was their fourth consecutive loss. They are now three points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They will play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, a team they are three points behind, so it will be a crucial game. Today, the Senators announced that they have recalled two forwards from the Belleville Senators of the AHL. Zack MacEwen and Matthew Highmore will join the Senators in Pittsburgh.

Zack MacEwen

MacEwen has played for four teams in the NHL playing for the Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, and the Senators. In 255 career games, he’s recorded 34 points. He has 17 goals and 17 assists; he is a career -29. Last season, in 30 games with the Senators he had three points on two goals and an assist. With Belleville in ten games last season, he had seven points on five goals and two assists. This season with Ottawa in 19 games he has three points on two goals and an assist. With Belleville in 14 games this season, he has nine points on five goals and four assists.

Matthew Highmore

Highmore is on his fourth team. He previously played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, and the Senators. In 146 career games, he has 29 points on 12 goals and 17 assists. He played in seven games with Ottawa last season recording two assists. Last season with Belleville in 43 games he had 31 points on nine goals and 22 assists. This season in 23 games with Belleville he has ten points on two goals and eight assists.
