It’s no secret that David Pastrnak is a superstar in the NHL, with the ability to score a goal anytime the puck touches his stick. One thing Pastrnak is really good at is putting up points for the Boston Bruins, but what goes unnoticed is the forward does a lot more than just score.
Head coach Jim Montgomery recently shared during his meeting with the media last Friday afternoon how he sees Pasta as the “ultimate” teammate.
”I had heard how wonderful a teammate he is through discussions you hear throughout the league.”
”One thing that was apparent to me right away when I got here was sitting down with the staff, and [Chris Kelly] said he thought Pasta was the most connected to everybody in the locker room, to speak about his leadership.”
”Whether it’s young guys or old guys, he has a bond with everybody.”

As a fan base, it’s always reassuring to hear this about your star players, as many get negative reputations around the league. It also shows the culture that the Bruins have built over the years, thanks to players like Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Zdeno Chara, and Brad Marchand, to name a few.
The Bruins have always been a team-first family dynamic in the locker room, and Pastrnak has continued that since coming into the league, regardless of how skilled and talented he is. Pastrnak doesn’t get enough credit for his leadership which has taken a major leap forward this season. Hearing Montgomery speak out, especially while Pasta is in a contract year where many see him as only being greedy and going for the max, shows there’s more to him than just the money.
