Penguins: RoboPen is back

The Penguins have revealed their second version of the famed reverse retro jersey. The jersey is mainly black, with the RoboPen front and center. The jersey numbers are gold, the sleeves are half gold, half black, with a big white stripe on the black half of it, and the jersey is all gold on the bottom, with a small black line, and when a thick white line.

The jersey is the black version of the white RoboPen jersey that the Penguins wore from 1992-2002. The white and black are reversed. In the RoboPen era, the jersey would become known as cursed, as it’s been through a lot. Between Lemieux missing a lot of games with cancer, his first retirement, and his comeback, the Penguins were struggling with attendance in the late 1990s, and the Penguins Presidents Trophy wins in 1992-93, to blowing it in the playoffs the same year.

The other thing is, the Penguins bringing back old jerseys haven’t been good. Bringing back the Penguin with Scarf logo for the Winter Classic in 2011 caused Sidney Crosby to miss over a calendar year in his prime. The Penguins have yet to win a playoff series since the “PITTSBURGH” diagonal logo was back. The 2008 Winter Classic jersey had the Penguins lose in the Stanley Cup Final that same year.

I was able to leak this jersey last night with the help of @jAns8lmo. For those who saw it early, you’re welcome!

Not to mention, the Penguins are also playing in the Winter Classic at Fenway Park on January 2nd. Although that jersey is still a couple of months away from release, this picture below is expected to be what it is or something based on this jersey.
