One of the many amazing players to help build a great foundation for hockey in Savannah this year was Cole Stallard. He played for the Ghost Pirates this past season and will again this coming season. Originally from Woodstock, Georgia, it’s no surprise that Stallard would feel so welcome at home at Enmarket Arena this year. The 29-year-old was born in Woodstock on September 6, 1994. The Southern Stallard was raised to play hockey in the Lowcountry.
From 2019 to 2021, he played for the Birmingham Bulls in the SPHL. Playing 70 total games in those two seasons, Cole scored on 23 of his opportunities and assisted 12 goals. He also spent a total of 56 minutes penalized in the Sin Bin for Birmingham. For the 2021-22 season, Stallard would start off with the SPHL’s Evansville Thunderbolts in Indiana. He only played seven games for them, scoring four goals and getting five assists, as well as eight penalty minutes. The right-handed forward would then go to the ECHL to play for the Iowa Heartlanders.
Stallard was with the Heartlanders from the 2021-22 season until the first part of the 2022-23 season, when he would eventually go a bit closer to home in Savannah, Georgia. Iowa had Cole wearing their colors for 91 games, and he took responsibility for 21 of their goals, assisting 19 along the way.
Moving on to the newest addition to the ECHL, Stallard would finish off the most recent season wearing Ghost Pirate Green. He was with the newly developed team for quite a bit of time, playing in 44 games. At some point during his time in Savannah, he had an injury he would end up being stuck with for a while. He managed to score 11 goals, including one first goal and one unassisted goal. He also got six assists, 42 penalty minutes, and took a total of 71 shots on goal.
This season, Stallard will once again play for the Savannah Ghost Pirates, and the 29-year-old Georgia-native will no doubt keep playing hard for his home state.
