Philadelphia Flyers All-Star Game Representative

If there is any Flyer that deserves a trip to Scotiabank Arena, it is Travis Konecny. The 26-year-old right winger has led his teammates by example this season, tallying 33 points in 37 games played. This will be his second All-Star Weekend. His first appearance was in 2020.

“It’s an awesome opportunity, and it’s really cool. It’s close to home.”

– Travis Konecny during an intermission interview

Konecny is also tied for second in the league with Blake Coleman for the most short-handed goals. He currently has four on the season. He also has not gone a single game without a shot.

The news was announced right before puck drop against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Flyers are looking to bounce back from their two-week West Coast road trip. To further demonstrate why he was chosen for All-Star Weekend, he broke the even score at the 17:12 mark during the first period with a nifty tip-in. Joel Farabee and Sean Couturier assisted with the goal.

In the third period, Konecny scored on a backhand to make the score 2-0. Throughout the game, Konecny showed grit and a hunger to generate chances. It wouldn’t be a surprise he was seen taking on two Columbus defenders alone — because he did. Konecny has developed into a leader that the Flyers have needed since Claude Giroux was traded.

The 2024 All-Star Weekend takes place on February 1-3. NHL All-Star Thursday will be held at 1 p.m. on the 1st, NHL All-Star Skills at 7 p.m. on the 2nd, and the NHL All-Star Game at 7 p.m. on the 3rd. All-Star Thursday and All-Star Skills will be available on both ESPN+ and ESPN, and the All-Star Game will be available on ESPN+ and ABC.
