PORTLAND, Maine – As the Maine Mariners looked to continue their push for the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs, they faced the Adirondack Thunder for the final home game of the season on Friday night. The Mariners would put up a good fight for the crowd on Fan Appreciation and Switchboard Appreciation Night. The Mariners hung on through three periods, but with the game tied at 3-3, the game headed to overtime, but ultimately fall short with Maine losing 5-4 to the Thunder. Rookies Mac Welsher and Eric Alarie gave the Adirondack Thunder a division-clinching — and record-setting — victory on Friday night. Alarie scored the tying goal with 4:50 left in regulation, and Welsher scored the game-winner in OT to lift the Thunder to victory.
